"Michael Moore Is A Big Fat Stupid White Man" by David Hardy and Jason Clarke (6 weeks on NY Times Bestseller List)

Does Moore have a new fan? If bin Laden isn't a viewer, he's certainly managed to parallel Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11, right down to the pet goat story.

Translation of bin Laden message, from Al-Jazeera

"Praise be to Allah who created the creation for his worship and commanded them to be just and permitted the wronged one to retaliate against the oppressor in kind. To proceed:

So he [Bush, Sr.] took dictatorship and suppression of freedoms to his son and they named it the Patriot Act, under the pretence of fighting terrorism. In addition, Bush sanctioned the installing of sons as state governors, and didn't forget to import expertise in election fraud from the region's presidents to Florida to be made use of in moments of difficulty.

It is true that this shows that al-Qaida has gained, but on the other hand, it shows that the Bush administration has also gained, something of which anyone who looks at the size of the contracts acquired by the shady Bush administration-linked mega-corporations, like Halliburton and its kind, will be convinced. And it all shows that the real loser is ... you.

It never occurred to us that the commander-in-chief of the American armed forces would abandon 50,000 of his citizens in the twin towers to face those great horrors alone, the time when they most needed him.

But because it seemed to him that occupying himself by talking to the little girl about the goat and its butting was more important than occupying himself with the planes and their butting of the skyscrapers, we were given three times the period required to execute the operations - all praise is due to Allah.

Your security is in your own hands. And every state that doesn't play with our security has automatically guaranteed its own security."

[NB: the translation of "state" above specifically relates in Arabic to a subunit of a nation, the American "state," not a government as a whole. Might Mr. B have been seeing a certain Moore webpage where Moore laments: ""Many families have been devastated tonight. This just is not right. They did not deserve to die. If someone did this to get back at Bush, then they did so by killing thousands of people who DID NOT VOTE for him! Boston, New York, DC, and the planes destination of California -- these were places that voted AGAINST Bush!" ?

This wouldn't be the first time that terrorists boosted Moore's work.

The attorney for the ringleader in the Bali bombing in Indonesia, which killed over 200 people, quoted from Moore's book Stupid White Men in explaining his client's actions.

"He [the bomber] denied Bali was selected as a target because it had a large Hindu population and even apologised, in a Balinese dialect, to the Indonesian victims of the bombings - wishing them well with their recoveries.

But he refused to show remorse for westerners, saying he was grateful for the massive deaths in the Sari Club and Paddy's Irish Pub.. . . .

His lawyer, Qaidar Faisal, later delivered an official defence submission. It argued about the real meaning of the jihad struggle, how Afghanistan under Taliban rile had been a pure nation, as its laws had been crafted by God and not humans.

Mr Faisal also quoted from American satirist Michael Moore's book Stupid White Men and other anti-western texts.

An Australian victim, Ben Tullipan, who lost both legs in the tragedy and part of his hearing, was at court. "It is hard to be in the same room as the bloke who did this," he told reporters. "It's all bullshit [what Samudra said] . . . it all takes a bit to sink in. I'm glad I came.""

It's interesting that one of the chapters in Moore's book is entitled "Kill Whitey!" and the murderous ringleaders explained to police that he chose the target because "I saw lots of whiteys dancing and lots of whiteys drinking there" He added (and the theme that the US is the real terrorist is one of Moore's recurring themes) that "That place ... was a meeting-place for U.S. terrorists and their allies."

More recently, Hezbolla-linked groups have offered to help distribute Fahrenheit 9/11 in the Mideast ... and Moore's distributor is taking them up on it!
